Grosseto and Maremma Box: Terre di Talamo

In this paradise of vineyards, on a hill from which the sea can be observed in all its brightness, one would never want to leave. We are in a property of more than 300 hectares (750 acres), where during summertime rain is practically never seen and the sun warms grapes with a surprising continuity. Marco Bacci, wine entrepreneur, proudly reveals us how the dream of producing Morellino di Scansano was a project that started from far away and that today after twenty years contributes to increase the satisfaction of consumers as well as of the producer. The particularity of the soil strikes us in a particular way, consisting of an infinity of stones and clay. This element, together with the vicinity of the sea and the almost always sunny climate, enriches the wine with a more marked sapidity.

The harvest has just ended and the leaves of the vines are beginning to take on a color tending to yellow: “this year we had less quantity, but we are sure the quality will be higher than usual: look at this!”, Marco tells us pointing to the tank with the wine flowing into a container, with a good aroma and a ruby red color. We go through the vineyards near the farmhouse, before going up even higher, towards the highest point of the property: from here we can admire the view up to Argentario on one side and up to the Rocca di Talamone on the other side. It is a very special place. And we realize that Morellino di Scansano, which is born between the hinterland and the sea of Maremma, absorbs in its taste all the beauty of these lands, the Terre di Talamo.
