Artisanal chocolate – Pistoia Box

The road that connects Pistoia to its countryside is bordered by an extensive succession of nurseries, which are part of Europe’s most important floricultural district. An area, that of Pistoia, which is also famous for its handmade chocolate delicacies. The artisanal tradition is still strong here, and there are so many names of important companies in this sector that this area has earned the appellation Chocolate Valley.

One of these prestigious companies is La Molina, which makes products of absolute quality, presented in original and colorful packaging. The chocolate is processed according to artisanal techniques and literally melts in the mouth with every taste.

Why the name La Molina? Legend has it that the personal chocolatier of Empress Maria Theresa of Habsburg was named after the fact that she used to use the “molinador.” This tool was used to process cocoa beans and make tasty hot chocolates. The company’s brand is dedicated to this woman who understood that by taking the empress for gluttony, she would win her sympathies.

Owner Caterina ushers us into an enchanted world. The production plant is filled with boxes that are delicious to look at and even more so to taste. This chocolate is savored “with the eyes and with the mouth,” as the company slogan states. It is all packaged by hand, thus reinforcing the concept of artisanship in production.

We chose for Box Pistoia the chocolate bar, in the salted gianduia version. It is a true triumph of pleasure both for the eyes, given the cheerful and colorful packaging, and of course for the mouth!
