Artisanal coffee – Florence Box

Learn more about Chianti Classico wine that is part of Florence Box by Radici Italiane

We are on the outskirts of Florence, where a tree-lined avenue leads to the enchanting Piazzale Michelangelo. We descend to the nearby town of Bagno a Ripoli: here is a historic Florentine artisanal coffee roastery, Caffetteria Piansa.

The Tuscan capital boasts its own school of coffee processing, which was already among the most prestigious in Italy in the late 1800s. Part of this precious legacy has been collected by Alessandro, son of the cafeteria’s founder.

Here we are in the workshop, among burlap sacks containing the beans and where a fascinating vintage machine for grinding coffee beans pops up. “It takes the utmost care in the selection of the product and throughout the roasting process” says Alessandro, “as well as the ability to use artisanal processing techniques, which are decisive for the success of the product.”

In the “10+1” blend version, the grains come from ten different countries around the world. These are ten varieties of arabica, with a delicate taste, and one variety of robusta, with a more intense taste. The artisanship of the production makes it possible to produce a special coffee.

All that remains is to put the moka on the stove, wait for the good aroma to waft through the air, and then sip the artisanal coffee while enjoying all its intensity.
