We are in a paradise made of vineyards, on a hill from which the sea can be seen in all its brilliance, with the Rocca di Talamone as a magnificent backdrop. We are in the land of Morellino di Scansano. More precisely in an estate of three hundred hectares, where in summer the rain is hardly ever seen and the sun warms the grapes with surprising continuity.
Marco Bacci, wine entrepreneur and owner of Bacci Wines, reveals that one of his dreams has always been to produce a wine in front of the sea. The soil where the vineyards stand consists of stones and clay. This peculiarity, together with the proximity of the sea and the almost always sunny climate, enriches the wine with an intense flavor.
The harvest has just finished. The leaves on the vines are beginning to turn a tinge of yellow. Marco lets us know that “this year we had less quantity, but we are sure that the quality will be even higher than usual: look at this!” Marco says, pointing to the tank from where the wine is drained into a container. A very good aroma comes out and the color is a beautiful ruby red.
We pass through the vines near the farmhouse before climbing up to the highest point of the property. From here you can admire the view all the way to the Argentario and Rocca di Talamone. It is a very special place.
Morellino di Scansano, which is born between the hinterland and the sea of the Maremma coast, absorbs in its taste all the beauty of these lands. Terre di Talamo is a wine to be drunk young. And it goes well with many good traditional Maremma dishes, such as wild boar ragout.
